At the Co-op annual meeting tomorrow (Wednesday) January 13th, 6 PM, at the Medford Library, we will present you with information about a new site opportunity we have been offered for lease. Your Board of Directors promised you that we would not make a final site selection without meeting with you first.
This location is an existing commercial establishment the exact size we’ve been looking for. It has existing trained employees who are willing to continue. It has in place required equipment for our use, and the site is centrally located in Medford.
At the existing owners request, the name of this business can be released in just a few days once the lease agreement is signed. The present owners and our Board are in general agreement on the terms of a lease with an option to buy the building. They are open to a smooth transition for a June Co-op opening. However, the lease commencement would be contingent on us generating the funds necessary to open the store.
We want to discuss this opportunity with you further. The funds we have to raise are required to purchase our organic and natural foods inventory and the monies required to cover the expenses of the transition. Under this opportunity, the only variable required to open Medford’s Food Co-op is raising the necessary money.
Building renovations, equipment and purchase of expensive equipment, hiring and training of employees would not be necessary… only raising the funds and finding the right store manager.
We look forward to meeting with you Wednesday at 6 PM.

President, Medford Food Co-op
