The Co-op has entered new territory. Now, to reach our goal of opening the store by January, we need to accelerate our efforts by organizing community events and raising awareness. The only way to reach our goal is to increase our visibility and get the whole community talking. When people see things happening, they get excited.
So, I need your help to get this organized. Since we’re holding membership money and loans in trust, we don’t have funds to hire event organizers or to advertise in the press or on TV. But, even without spending money to generate interest, we know that people will turn out for interesting events and causes they support. These events will raise the money necessary to spread the word even farther. While it’s been nice to see the Mail Tribune supportive of the Co-op, now we have to carry the ball to make this happen. Remember what a great job you did in 2006 in raising community awareness and getting organized?
To successfully reach our goal by January, your Co-op needs two things: First, we need two high energy, responsible, and capable people willing to join our Board of Directors and work directly with me to help guide this community effort through January. Our other four board members are completely involved in the site selection process, so we need new energy. Second, we need an ad hoc group of willing volunteers to assist in organizing community events.

If you are willing to be a part of our event organizing group, please come to our first meeting on August 12th at 6:00 PM in my office’s conference room, 225 West Main St., Medford, and we’ll get started. We’ll probably meet every two weeks until January.
