Friends of the Medford Market now known as the Medford Food Co-op:
In case you have not heard, the Co-op has a new name, a new Board, and renewed energy to bring our dream of a Medford food co-operative to fruition.
Beginning Thursday, April 30, the Medford Food Co-op will have a weekly presence at the Medford Growers Market. Many of you will recall that this was so during the summer of 2007. This is an excellent venue
* for getting out the word that the effort to create a food co-op is alive and well;
* for selling memberships; and
* for educating people about the importance of converting their concern about healthy food choices and their commitment to local and sustainable food into purchasing shares and ultimately shopping at the Medford Food Co-op.
However, without a cadre of volunteers to staff the booth, these goals will not be realized. Many of us shop at the Growers Market on a regular basis. Please consider adding some extra time to your market visit by signing up for a shift. The tasks are easy and it is a fun environment.
The Medford Growers Market is every Thursday in the Medford Armory parking lot. The shifts are 8:00 to 11:00 and 11:00 to 1:30. We need two people per shift. Ideally, folks could sign up for a consistent slot, e.g., the third Thursday of each month 8:00 to 11:00, etc.
In addition to booth staffing, I am looking for a few volunteers who could take leadership roles in
1) Maintaining booth staffing
2) Creating a visually compelling appearance for the booth – making it look like a place people would come for information
Orientation and ongoing volunteer support are provided.
Please contact me, Christine Haynie, booth coordinator, for additional information and for signing up to help out.
Thank you very much.
