Site Review

The Medford Food Co-op Site Review committee has been working diligently since the July 15 announcement of the top three sites under consideration. As you may be aware, these sites are, the old Spearco building located at 4th and Fir streets, the old Foodland grocery building on Stewart Ave, and the former Value Village Building in the Bear Creek Plaza on Biddle and McAndrews. The July presentation that was hosted at the Red Rock Eatery was well attended, and a surprising amount of support was shown for the Spearco site. This meeting produced a very generous offer from Ken Ogden of Ogden, Roemer and Wilkerson Architecture of Medford to produce some artistic renderings of all three proposed sites that are shown here on the web site. The images below reflect both the sites’ present day appearance, as well as renderings of potential site construction.

Our site selection has narrowed, but we are still open to consideration of alternative sites at this point in time. Each site has its pros and cons; ultimately the Site Review committee’s recommendation to the Board of Directors will be determined by community support for a specific site combined with a favorable and feasible offer from the property owner. The Medford Food Co-op opening in any of these three sites depends on the success of our on-going Capital Fund Drive, the quantity of Membership Shares purchased and Member Owner Loans offered, Business and Vendor Sponsorships, as well as the dedication and generosity of volunteers and community members served by the Medford Co-op. Thank you to everyone who has been working so hard to ensure the success of the Medford Co-op!
