Daren was born in Brooklyn, New York but grew up in North Carolina, Florida, and eventually settled in Las Vegas, Nevada where he spent most of his formative years. Daren graduated high school in Las Vegas, and obtained a degree in University Studies: Finance & Economics from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. After college, Daren worked in the non-profit, banking, and food service industries. He has traveled the world: living and teaching in Kuwait City, Kuwait and visited New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, Greece, Turkey, Bahrain, Dubai, Netherlands, England, Ireland, Italy, and Spain. Daren settled in Medford in August of 2020, but fell in love with all of Oregon in the early 2000s when a high school friend lived in Eugene – his friend has since moved to Bend, and intends to move to Medford. Daren and his friend plan to start a ginger farm this year.
Daren currently works for the Oregon Department of Human Services in the Child Protective Services division. He loves being a part of something that’s helping to protect our most vulnerable population. Daren is also a member of BASE of Southern Oregon’s Racial Equity Police Liaison Committee and is also attending the Jackson County Sheriffs Office Citizens Academy.
Daren is excited to join the Board of Directors to contribute to something he cares deeply about in our community: affordable, organic food for the local citizens. Daren wants to help MFC strengthen its position in the community, be viewed as the destination for grocery shopping, and ultimately help local farmers and other local businesses.
