Work at the Co-op
Please take the time to quiz yourself on the following questions. This will help you decide if the Medford Food Co-op is a good fit for you.
- Do you enjoy exceeding customer expectations?
Providing exceptional customer service is our goal at the Co-op. We recruit courteous, enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff. Reliability, honesty, flexibility, productivity, and cooperation are among the behaviors we prize. Professional appearance and personable attitude are equally valued.
- Are you passionate about good food, sustainability and our community?
We continually search for great folks who want to align their values with the mission of the co-op. While previous grocery and/or food co-op experience is a big plus, it is not a requirement.
- Are you self motivated?
Even when customer traffic slows, you will find yourself stocking shelves efficiently, ensuring correct pricing, buying new products, maintaining fresh produce, and/or maintaining the premises in an appealing manner. Ideal candidates will be flexible in their willingness to perform a variety of duties.
- Are you a team player?
We use a team approach to achieve high standards. You’ll be working alongside our fellow team members, sometimes under stress. No matter what’s going on in your week, your co-workers will be counting on you to be here 100% when your shift starts.
- Are you committed to long term employment?
Team building takes time and therefore we look for individuals who would like to work at the co-op for a year or longer.
- Can you commit to a schedule?
Typically, staff work various shifts during the week on a regular basis, and often in more than one department. We’re open seven days a week, so the ability to work evenings and weekends is essential.
- Can you stay calm and friendly under pressure?
In the grocery industry there are slow periods and then there are times when you may not “catch your breath” because of high customer volumes. You must be able to stock product, operate as a cashier, and resolve issues in a fast and effective manner, sometimes for hours on end.
If you answered “YES!” to all of these questions, we’d like to meet you!
While we truly appreciate your interest and efforts in applying for a position with the Co-op, we receive many applications and therefore cannot personally respond to each.
