1 in 3 households in Jackson County do not earn enough to cover their basic cost of living. ACCESS provides food, warmth, and shelter to promote stability for vulnerable populations. In the past year, ACCESS provided 121,714 independent services to neighbors in need.
ACCESS utilizes the Mobile Food Pantry program to reach food-insecure families as well as those who have a chronic disease. The program has two components: the Healthy Mobile Pantry and the Free Mobile Food Market, each operating out of the same truck. The Mobile Food Pantry program operates in 9 locations throughout the community 24 times per month and assists 370 families and 1,050 individuals in high-need areas.
The Healthy Mobile Food Pantry Program is a collaboration among ACCESS, Rogue Community Health, La Clinica Wellness Center, and Unete Center for farmworker Advocacy. With these community partnerships, the truck travels to 5 medical clinic sites 14 times each month to provide healthy food to those with food security issues and chronic diseases like diabetes and hypertension. A nutritionist is also on-site most weeks to help select food items.
The Free Mobile Food Market (FMFM) operates without the the partnership of health clinics with the goal to provide healthy food each week to food insecure people in underserved areas of Jackson County.
Funds will support the Mobile Food Pantry program and improve food access for rural, marginalized, and underserved demographics as well as those who have a chronic disease, disabilities, and/or experience barriers in accessing brick-and-mortar food pantries. Funds will go directly to food and supply costs.
